Priorities -- What's important?

Hey!

Good to see you today. I'm going to proceed as(-if) you have read the earlier post on values and this comment follows. Sometimes, what is important is defined by your personal, inner values. Sometimes it is defined by what I'm going to term your ego values -- Those social values you adhere to, the things we are "told" are important.

In addition there are some objective values, things that are important no matter what you internal, or your social, frame of reference says. For example: food is important; water is important; shelter is important; love is important, etc.

Without those items a human organism fails to live one one, or more, levels. There are several billion individuals on the Earth, you, your family, descendants or friends may not be the first to suffer from the short-fall in food production. You and they may survive the initial potential for wars and politics from the energy-droughts, water-droughts, and floods, etc.

I don't think that's an exaggeration. We can go to war over oil and gas. There have been many wars over land, over water and food in the past. There's a good chance we will see this again if crops no longer grow, rains fail, or the seashore is inundated.

Despite the social pressures to "fit-in", the personal preference to follow a dream; it is probably more suitable to align these ambitions with a Global Picture to include the environment and systems that sustain keeps you alive.

I reckon people will give service to big challenges with small actions. That is important, small things make a big difference once there is enough action. TODAY we need more direction. It takes will, that's all. The will to do it. (... Then you need a tangible result -- Like a dam, a man on the Moon, or baseload renewable energy for your area).

Namaste,
William.

What you value . . .

Welcome back ...

I hope you have been enjoying your week. We are now in August, time to consider the coming Spring headed your way. Here's a statement that should make all of us sit still and consider what this means to you personally.

Your Top 6 Values

People are at their best when their personal values are matched to their environment. Where the environment lacks those values, people will generally struggle to try and correct it.

It's important to find an organisation whose values match yours.

I have heard this information from several perspectives before. I use it with individuals, and organisations for both awareness and sensitivity. It makes a real difference to know, accept and respect the values of your workmates. I've seen this, even when you don't agree, respect is possible.

My survey values: dialogue, structure, rapid results, sensitivity, shrewdness, sympathy.

In no particular order. "Shrewdness" is the correct term, the intention is economical and effective application of resources. Playing it smart.

On an individual level, I like seeing you identify and order the values that are important to you. We can use transparent processes for you to identify your values. You can take surveys like the I mention above.

In a team environment, your values must be in alignment with the team objectives and the organisation's goals. The values that are not aligned, need to be respected by your team, and by your organisation for you to operate at your better-than-best. That's information confirmed in studies from several disciplines.

What is this better-than-best idea? It comes the "synergy" concept. When you are working with others and you click -- When you get it -- That's synergy. The team is more productive than the sum of individuals.

Without alignment or respect, people will tend to strive to "correct" thier view of your values. That's more than interesting to me. That's very interesting. By respecting values of team members and the organisation we can achieve great things. Let's go! Give me a call.

Namaste,
William.
